In 2002, Schiltz Goose Farms, Inc., North America's largest goose producer, lost 34,000 geese to West Nile virus. To combat the disease, they saved antibodies from the surviving geese at harvest time and provided them to the geese the following year when West Nile hit again. The first year of using this approach, they cut the death loss to 4%. Since then, we changed the administration to oral and now manage the virus to less than a half of a percent.
Once they saw the effectiveness of using goose antibodies, the owners of Schiltz Goose Farms partnered with various experts to form the research company, Avianax, LLC., to explore the possibilities of goose antibodies being an effective therapeutic agent.
Through research, Avianax and Schiltz Goose Farms have developed the powder from goose antibodies for the use in canines. The product is simply goose egg yolk spray dried into a safe powder form, and carries the benefits of goose antibodies to dogs to maintain, retain and restore gastrointestinal wellness.
